Just Jesus

At the beginning of this year our Pastor was talking about what our focus was going to be for the coming year. On the screen was what you see on my post Just Jesus. What does that mean Just Jesus? Many days I sit with good intentions of spending my quiet time, my Worship time, and my prayer time, all in the morning hours. More times than not however, it does not work out that way.

For me, many days Just Jesus takes on a whole new spin. Just Jesus is saying kind words, and better yet, being kind to the person at the grocery store. Just Jesus is praying for someone in the middle of the day because their name came to your mind. Just Jesus is baking chocolate chip cookies and offering some to your neighbor because you know they are her favorites. Just Jesus is when you can give somebody hope about what they’re going through at that point in their life. Just Jesus means forgiving somebody even if you think it has been 490 times and giving them the 491 time. Just Jesus he’s giving some money to somebody because the LORD has told you to do it. Just Jesus means inviting somebody to sit with you at church because you noticed that they are alone. Just Jesus means walking with intentionality the way that you believe Jesus would have you to walk.

I’ve been reading the Gospels over the last little bit of time. Over and over again I have read that Jesus looked on people with compassion. He had compassion for people as a group and he had compassion for individuals. If we’re to walk the way that he has called us to walk, then Just Jesus will be a part of our everyday life. We won’t have to think about Just Jesus, it will be who we are. What does Just Jesus mean to you?
